Creatine: Hazardous or Healthy Essay -- essays research papers

CREATINE Hazardous or Healthy? In sports today, everyone is looking for that extra advantage to set up their performance, and to compete harder and stronger than their opponent. creatine has become a major part of many athletes weight training and conditioning programs in the past few years. Many pot film different opinions as to whether or not this substance should be used. After researching the topic of Creatine, I have concluded that there is nothing damage with taking the supplement called Creatine. The supplement, known as Creatine or Natures Steroid, is the latest craze of the movement, and is selling over 100 one thousand million dollars in profit each year. Creatine is a born(p) substance that was first discovered by a French Chemist named Chevreul (Higher Power Creatine Web page). It is found in its highest form in lean red muscle tissue of animals and humans in the form of Creatine Phosphate. Creatine moldiness be combined with exercise to shit an effect. When muscle s are used to lift a weight, or perform any character of work, ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is quickly baffled down to ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) and energy is released. The get along of ATP stored in the muscle must rely on Creatine to restock its supply of ATP. This cycle is repeat throughout the training period. Therefore, the addition of supplementary creatine allows the duration of the bodys maximum effort to increase. Which basically means you can lift more weight for a longer period of time(Applegate 25). Muscles will only increase in size when stimulated by a greater workload. For example, in advance one was using a Creatine supplement, he or she was remove-pressing 170 pounds, for 3 sets with 8 repetitions each set. With use of Creatine one is able to bench press 180 pounds, for 3 sets with ten repetitions per set. Thus, enhancing performance, and gradually increasing overall strength and muscle mass. The one major concern about Creatine is if it is harmful, and the type of side affects that may occur from its use. Creatine is a natural, safe substance that already exists in the human body. Its function is to provide the body with energy reserves. Reports have also shown that it is not an addictive substance, like tobacco. Creatine is safe for both sexes. Common side eff... ...efore exercise(Fitness Pros bodybuilding Web page). This gives the Creatine time to get to the muscle. There are two periods in which one takes Creatine. The Loading period, in which he or she takes 2 to 4 full teaspoons per day spaced throughout the day, for a weeks time. The purpose of the Loading phase is to overdose the body with the supplement, which allows maximum absorption. After Loading is done one has to maintain or regulate the amount of Creatine in their system. The recommended Maintenance period includes taking 1 to 2 full teaspoons daily, for as long as one continues using the supplement(Fitness Pros Bodybuilding Web page). Through my research, I found that these periods varied, but this program was the most consistent. To conclude, Creatine or Natures Steroid, is an over the counter dietetic supplement that helps build lean muscle mass, and shortens recovery time between workouts. Its side effects are nowhere near life threatening, and the supplement is natural and already in our muscles. Creatine is a legal, healthy way to enhance muscular strength and endurance in the striving athletes of the world.

Statement of Educational Goals Essay -- Philosophy of Education Teachi

Statement of Educational Goals The role of the indoctrinateer has changed, perhaps evolved is a better word, since students left the atmosphere of home tuition to that of the classroom. Im sure that there have always been innovative teachers, but lecture and paperwork (or slate board work) were at one time the norm. In some classes it ease is. However, the fact that we have so many stu- dies concerning the development of learning skill, such as the four stages that Piaget ident- ified, and so many theories on the best way to teach a child, such as Constructivism versus Behavorialism, indicates that many educators have realized there have to be better ways, than exclusive lecture and paperwork, to evoke learning. We have erudite in our educational courses there are several styles of learning that each of us use one or more of. This is a challenge to the teacher, because it mode we cant con- struct all our lessons based on only one style (which is usually our let lea rning style). We, as teachers, must be willing to expand our own realm of thinking and try new approaches. I love this concept, since I would get bored if I had to teach the same way every day. In my personal view, a classroom that is learning is non the one where seats are neatly in their rows, each child is busy completing a worksheet and no voices are heard. Give me clusters of desks, with students collaborating on projects and the air buzzing with the sound of excited voices. I feel that textbooks should be used as reference tools, not the sole amount of knowledge we want to obtain on any particular subject. In fact, I believe that the true measure of the success of a teacher is when students endeavor to know more. How can this be ac... ...bjects like Social Studies that require remembering facts and dates. What can you do in that situation? I sincerely yours believe that board games, set up along the line of Sorry and using an ever expanding set of question and answer cards, could be an enjoyable and trenchant way for students to recall social studies facts, if played on a regular basis. Other topics requiring memorization, such as the 50 states or the American presidents, could be dealt with by developing trading cards in which students strive to com- plete a set. I believe that my job as a teacher is not simply to come out of the closet knowledge in my students heads. I must also help them understand that knowledge and show them how they can use it throughout their lives. To be truly triple-crown at my job I must transfer my excitement for learning and curiosity to my students, so they will want to learn more.

Companies to Watch: The Gap and Nordstroms :: essays research papers fc

I chose to research two very different apparel retail stores. The GAP, Inc. and Nordstrom, Inc. are very interesting companies to me because they reckon with something that is very important to me and a lot of people, clothes. Everyone buys and wears clothes, and these are two companies who have succeeded in this venture. They both started knocked out(p) with the uniform intentions, to sell apparel through curio stores, but at this point Nordstroms has been more successful. In theory these two companies are very similar because they are trying to accomplish the same thing. They both sell apparel, shoes and accessories for women, men and children through specialty and clearance stores. The clearance stores mentioned are Nordstrom Rack and GAP factory outlet stores. They also adjudicate the use of personalized customer service. The GAP and Nordstrom feel that good customer service is the way to keep customers happy and thus keep them loyal. Because of this, they have more employe es to serve their customers and spend a lot of time training these employees. These companies are also set up in the same way. They each have a chairman, president, and a couple of vice presidents. They both operate on the New York Stock Exchange. An other(a) interesting similarity is that they both are based out of the west coast, The GAP in San Francisco and Nordstrom in Seattle. But this is where the similarities end.The sizes of these two companies are very different. The GAP is a global retailer with about 3,700 stores and 166,000 employees worldwide. Nordstrom on the other hand has about 77 stores nationwide and 43,000 employees. It does operate one international boutique, Faconnable, mainly in Europe. The GAP has three brands including GAP, Banana Republic and Old Navy, solely operating in their own stores. Because of this huge difference in size, the GAP has much higher revenue than Nordstrom, but this doesnt mean that its a better company. In the news lately, the GAP has bee n under a lot of scrutiny because its sales have been down so much causing their computer address rating to lower as well. Investors feel that this is due to the sharp slowdown in consumer spending, growing competition and series of fashion misses. It has too many stores cleared to sustain this major hit on sales. They have very little debt, but analysts think that this combination spells a future bankruptcy.

Macbeth Newspaper Essay

One way Jewett dramatizes the character of the young girls adventure is by using personification. Jewett uses personification. Personification gives benignant qualities to objects as a way of describing them to strengthen the description. In the story A White Heron Jewett uses personification when she says There was the huge channelize asleep yet in the paling moonlight. Jewett here is founding the tree as a peaceful tree sleeping under the moonlight. It must truly have been amazed. This is when Jewett is trying to show how the tree is amazed by Sylvia and from that point it started to help her. It felt this determined spark of human spirit. This is when Jewett is cover that the tree felt a spark of human spirit. And the tree stood still and frowned away the winds. This was when Jewett was trying to show that the tree frowned away the winds and did not want the wind to make Sylvias journey hard for her.The one-time(a) pine must have loved his new dependent. This is when Jewe tt is showing that the old pine tree now has helped Sylvia to the top and actually loves his new dependent (Sylvia). another(prenominal) way Jewett dramatizes the character of the young girls adventure is by using Diction. Diction is the authors word choice. It is very important because it strengthens the description of something or someone. In The White Heron Jewett it helps contrast between the huge tree and the minor(ip) girl.Words that was used to describe Sylvia in the story was little, small, clumsy, bare feet, weak savage and Harmless housebreaker. All of these are words chosen by Jewett that describes the character of Sylvia. It strengthens the characterization of Sylvia. Those words mostly are showing that Sylvia is weak and small. She is a small girl that goes on a journey that leads her to becoming a young adult. Also words such as determined, doughty, spark and dazzle shows that Sylvia is determined and is daring herself to climb the huge tree.Jewett also uses words to describe the tree. Words such as huge, strong, old pine, sturdy, monstrous ladder and great main mast to describe the tree. This is showing that the tree is very powerful. These two are exactly opposite when Jewett describes them using word choice and diction. For example she says the girl is small and the tree is huge, she is weak and the tree is strong so there is a contrast between them. Contrasting diction and word choices contrasts the Sylvias personality and the trees.

The Primary Care Clinic

Discuss the key political, economic, and social forces that may have influenced the development of the clinic. Economic and social conditions that ingrain stacks lives determine their health. People who be poor are less likely to seek proper medical care, as opposed to hoi polloi who are of middle-class status and above. Citizens with much social status, money, and education have a plethora of choices and control over things, such as the neighborhoods, their salaries, occupational opportunities, etc. Jin, Shah, & Svoboda, September, 1995, 153(5)) Dennis Raphael of the CSJ Foundation for Research and Education, reinforces this concept Social determinants of health are the economic and social conditions that shape the health of individuals, communities, and jurisdictions as a whole. Social determinants of health are the primary determinants of whether individuals stay healthy or become ill. (Raphael, 2008) The development of clinics has become increasingly more important since the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable do by Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.Politics influence clinics because when laws such as these are put in place, federal bullion will conform to. These acts will make health care more accessible to millions of people in the United States. (Hobbs, Morton, Swerissen, & Anderson, 2010) What would be a good mission statement? To submit exemplary medical care to our patients, thus improving the health, wellness, and productivity of our community as a whole. Expect to receive the same level of service and commitment that we would provide for our own families. At our clinic, we offer these tips for better health. We believe in empowering our patients with the knowledge to enable them to make better lifestyle choices. (Donaldson, 1999) 1. Dont smoke. If you merchantman, stop. If you cant, cut down. 2. Follow a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. 3. Keep physically active. 4. Manage stress by, for example, talking things through and making time to relax. 5. If you drink in alcohol, do so in moderation. 6. Cover up in the sun, and protect children from sunburn. 7. Practice safer sex. 8. Take up cancer-screening opportunities. 9. Be safe on the roads follow the Highway Code 10. Learn the First Aid ABCs airways, breathing, and circulation.Identify three (3) performance measures you would use to measure the clinics effectiveness and provide the precept for each performance measure. The three performance measures that I would use are customer-client surveys, outcomes and efficiency, and operations. (L, B, & Xu, 2001) (R. & Griffith, 2010) Customer-client surveys are important, because we deficiency to know if patients are happy with the care they are receiving from us. If they are not happy, it could hurt our bottom line. Word-of-mouth travels fast, negative or positive. Every tenth patient should receive a survey, since randomness yields better results. Bryant) I would take questions, such as * Was your appointment time adhered to? If not, how many minutes late? * Do you smell that you had enough time to express your concerns with your healthcare professional, or did you feel rushed during the appointment? * What are your thoughts on our check-in process? The outcomes and efficiency performance is extremely critical, because our goal is to decrease hospitalizations, and to manage illnesses. This will decrease healthcare costs overall. If too many of our patients are being hospitalized, then that means something needs to be fixed. The patients are either not following clinician directives, not approach shot for follow-up appointments, or we may not have enough physicians on staff. (R. & Griffith, 2010) There is a critical shortage of primary care physicians in this country, collectible to the lure of more monetaryly lucrative specialties. (Herrick, 2010) Last, but not least, is operations. In order to know what is really going on in the organization, you must enunciate with the employees that are on the forefront. They can offer suggestions for streamlining tasks, such as customer check-in. They are usually the first people that hear raise or complaints from the patient, so their feedback is invaluable. How would you approach decisions regarding clinic expansion and annual plan approval? Due to the healthcare crystallize laws that were passed during the Obama Administration, there is a very real possibility that many people will be dropped from their employer-sponsored healthcare to the increased costs in 2014. (Diamond, 2010) Four major U. S. firms have come to the realization that millions, possibly, billions of dollars can be kept in the company coffers if they decide to cease healthcare benefits for their employees. The companiesAT&T, Caterpillar, Deere, and Verizon Communicationsmade announcements in March and April of 2010 that it would less costly to pay the government-imposed fines, as opposed to captiva ting the increased costs of the overhaul. The bill reduces employers tax deductions. To accommodate these patients during their transition from traditional employer-sponsored plans to government-based plans (including, but not limited to, Medicaid, insurance through the exchanges, etc. ), more clinics need to be opened to handle the impending influx of people who will be seeking care. The federal government will provide funding to clinics as part of their primary care initiatives, which will provide capital to help cover the costs of expansion. We need to expand our practice, and have these additional clinics up and rivulet before this legislation takes effect. We need to keep the continuity of care momentum going strong in our communities. How would you describe the role of the clinic as a dowry of the healthcare delivery system in your community? The clinics role in the community is of the utmost importance, especially in todays pecuniary climate. Many of our citizens are uninsur ed or underinsured. Due to the deterioration of the American economy, many people put cut healthcare from their tightened budgets. There have been reports of a decline in office visits since we have been in this recession. Clinics are needed to provide term of enlistment and illness care, at an affordable cost, to the people. Due to the health reform legislation, which stresses preventative healthcare as one of its focuses, clinics will play a major role in the delivery of healthcare in this country, as they should. It is more cost-effective to utilize a clinic to manage chronic illnesses such as diabetes, instead of going to the emergency room due to uncontrolled diabetes. How has public healthcare policy influenced the formation of outpatient clinics in the healthcare system? The clinics role in the community is of utmost importance, especially in todays financial climate. Many of our citizens are uninsured or underinsured. Due to deterioration of the American economy, many people cut medical function from their tightened budgets. There have been reports of a decline in office visits during this recent recession. Smith, 2010) Clinics are needed to provide preventative and illness care, at an affordable cost, to the members of the community. Due to health reform, which focuses on preventative care as a way to cut medical costs, clinics will play a major role in the delivery of medical services in our country. For example, it is more cost-efficient for patients to utilize a clinic to manage chronic conditions, i. e. diabetes, high blood pressure, etc, as opposed to going to the emergency room when symptoms heighten to dangerous levels.

Analysis of Dinner Party Essay

The text under analysis is named The Dinner Party, written by Nicholas Monsarrat. Monsarrat is a British novelist known for his sea stories and his novels, The Tribe That Lost Its Head and its sequel, Richer Than All His Tribe. The Dinner Party is a piece of narration. It key outs us about a rich man (uncle Octavian), who was a hospitable and friendly man, and liked to give parties until January 3, 1925. It was his fifty-fifth birthday. As usu all toldy on such a day he was giving a caller, a party for twelve people. All of them were old friends. During the party he was admired a magnificent diamond ring on the princesss hand. Then the ring was passed from hand to hand, and so it was baffled or stolen although all the guests were close friends. Nobody returned the princesss ring back, so it was never appoint and it never appe ared. Since that event Uncle Octavian never gave a single lunch or dinner party for the last thirty years of his life.He died a comparatively sad man wit h the special sadness of a hospitable host. The purpose of the author is to show how its significant to have values, principles and it doesnt make a difference if you are poor or rich. Uncle Octavian believed in his friends and suffered from this at the end as one person, one of his close friends is appeared to be a thief. Uncle Octavian lost all his friends and was never able to believe anyone from that day. The story is well-structured, so it may be divided into the following parts exposition, complication, conflict, completion and denouement. The first part begins with There are still some rich people and ends with until January 3, 1925. It tells us about rich people in their princess world and claims that even those have their problems. In this part we contact with the author, unnamed, and the main character (my uncle Octavian), who is described as a charming, hospitable and most amiable man with the help of epithets. The second part begins with the words Let me tell you a sto ry and ends with all old and intimate friends of my uncle Octavian. This passage describes the authors feelings about staying at such event the 55th birthday of his uncle, and the party itself. Here we observe a description of uncles friends and to stress how rich and important the friends of Octavian were the author uses metaphor old flames, and epithets such as respective husbands, stupendous intelligence and his fabulous American wife. The next part begins with Towards the end of a wonderful dinner and finishes with saw her pass it on. Here we becomeintroduce with a princess and her magnificent ring, loved by everyone at the table. The ring itself is described very vividly to stress its importance for example here the author uses an allusion to Genghis Khan. The climax of the story is the moment when everyone understands that the ring is lost or stolen. Here the author describes dreadful embarrassment of Uncle Octavians cherished friends and uncles belief in uncorrupted of hi s close friends. Colorful epithets are used to show growing anxiety among the guests dreadful, fruitless. In the epilogue we see that the ring was not never found and Octavian died poor man, never throwing a single party again as he lost his trust in people. Monsarrat uses antithesis to express how uncles life has changed since his 55th birthday at the beginning he writes that he was a happy rich man, at the end comparatively poor. Poor here is as well a metaphor used not only to describe his financial status, but also to show his inner feelings after that date he lost his trust, his beliefs were deceived. The tone of the story is grammatical and ironical at the same time, as the theme is judging people of being such liars even among friends the theme itself is kind of ironical.

Response to a Graduation Speech Essay

E. Goldson, (2010) wrote a valedictorian address, Here I Stand, a speech dedicated to explain that too much concentration and effort towards memorization and following directions can hinder or distract creativity and the frequent learning processes.. Goldson describes the educational experience as an uneventful routine Goldson (2010) stated, Perhaps, you only learned how to memorize names, places and dates to later on forget in order to guide your mind for the next test. School is non all that it can be.Goldson (2010) moves on with her speech belittling her own accomplishments by stating, I cannot say that I am any more intelligent than my peers. I can attest that I am only the best at doing what I am told and working the system. on that point has to be more to life than a dull routine of going to school, following all directions, and then preparing to work. This sort of depressing picture is usually motley by a negative attitude. However, Goldson proves to have a superior attit ude in order for her to gain the position of being top of her class.Goldson shows real genius in her creative writing, unless aboutone else wrote this speech for her. She must have a more probable reason to belittle her own achievements. One trap some teen maturaters of senior high school fall into is displaying a vain or conceited demeanor. Goldson most probably wanted to gain respect from her audience by presenting a humble tone to avoid being acc utilize of thinking of herself as being better than everyone else. Also, most high school students love to show disrespect once in a while just to have an outlet of the stress associated with a high school crowded with students many of whom do not want to be there.. This speech definitely shows rebelliousness against the structure of our education system. This criticism of our educational system appeals to the rebel student in her audience. Who can turn away that the system is not perfect and that there is always room for improvement ? However, Goldsons speech does not offer any solutions to help improve the system. She does not appreciate her own writing skills, reading comprehension, math abilities and good memory. All of these attributes Goldson gained by following directions and doing extra credit can actually enhance spic-and-span ideas, inspire creativity and open many opportunities. Think of all the scholarships Goldson could take advantage of. Her grades alone qualify her for the most prestigious universities. The only reference Goldson (2010) used to back up her claim was a hypothetical conversation between a Zen student and master. There is no proof this conversation took place, and so it is most likely to be fictitious. The simple truth of the matter remains that several highly educated people have proven that Godsons line of business is outright weak.People in real life have proven beyond any doubt that education does now, and has in the past inspired unseasoned ideas. John F. Kennedy, for example, graduated from Choate (high school) in 1935. He graduated Harvard University in 1940. Martin Luther King Jr. shows tremendous credit to Yonge Street Elementary School, and Booker T. Washington eminent School because of his high score on the college entrance examinations in his junior year of high school, he advanced to Morehouse College without formal graduation from Booker T. Washington. Having skipped some(prenominal) the ninth and twelfth grades, Dr. King entered Morehouse at the age of fifteen. From there he then received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College in 1948 at age 19 and his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1951 from Crozer Theological Seminary and Ph.D. from Boston University in 1955. Goldson failed to recognize the opportunities she had well earned from her experience in Athens high school. It was most likely due to her low esteem that Goldson failed to recogonize the skills and abilities learned from her hard work and dedication in Athens High School. S he did, after all, bring disbelieve to achieving the top of her own class of 2010. ReferencesGoldson E. Executive SummaryThe culture to eating hot drinking chocolate has accreditedly evolved e realplace the days in Singapore. A beautiful box of nicely wrapped chocolate was no longer appealing to Singaporeans, especially those whom be born after the eighties and later. People of this generation go for chocolates that not only hear good but also look good. Therefore Godiva Gems would have to evaluate the commercializes and exercise certain strategies to cater their outperform to certain groups of customers. The strategy introduce was sectionalization, Targeting and Positioning. Foremost, I would introduce the 4 unalike types of segmentation of the consumers market in the situation of Godiva gems the demographic segmentation seems to be the best choice to segment the market.By segmenting the consumers market into chocolate bashrs and non-chocolate lovers, which would be further, break down the segment of chocolate lovers into smaller segments through diametricaliation. Ther efore Godiva Chocolate Company will only concentrate on 2 segments as my target. They be the teenagers especially the students and children from the age group of 4 to 7. I would also include the reasons as to why these segments argon more penetrable in my point of view. To add on, Positioning is about finding the best way to convince a consumer that their want could be a need. Next I would move on to marketing mix of Godiva Gems.In return strategies, I would use value added method to cater to the disparate preference of my targeted audiences, by producing two different impersonates of Godiva Gems to satisfy two different groups of people. In my place strategies, I chose to place Godiva Gems nearer to my target audience to give them the convenience of barter foring luxury chocolate in the neighbourhood area. In the price strategy, I chose to use the market penetration pricing method to cut off competition and attract as many buyers as possible follow by the different pricing for chocolates catering to different targets. Lastly, in my promotion strategy, I chose the rational fire on Godiva Gems, follow by the reasons which I think rational approach is the best way to appeal to my target consumers.Chocolate Culture in SingaporeThe chocolate trend in Singapore is slowly changing over the years. In the past, a box of fine chocolates would still work fine as a gift for occasions. Lately, its no longer necessary to buy a beautifully gift-wrapped box of assorted chocolates anymore. With the advent of gourmet quality, chocolates in recent years have made consumers get them not only for their discernment and also for their designs. For instance, the Godiva chocolates are one of the many luxurious chocolates around, and it has always been the best choice as gifts for special occasions. The Godiva chocolate connection realized that people love to share chocolates in general. Therefore people go for the mortal wrapped offerings like the Lindor Truffle, as they ar e more attracting. Marketing Strategies SegmentationBy market segmentation, it means that companies divide large heterogeneous markets into smaller segments so as to reach out to people in certain segments more efficiently and effectively with products and services that match their needs. Segmentation goes by four different categories they are Geographic Segmentation, Demographic Segmentation, Psychographic Segmentation and Behavioral Segmentation.I would use Demographic Segmentation to divide the chocolate market for Godiva Gems. Demographic Segmentation is to divide the market into groups bases of variables, things like race, gender, age, income are some common factors which are popular which people are normally group. This is because the needs and wants of people are closely related to the demographic variables. In addition, the needs and wants of people may vary due to trend influences and the situations they are in. In the situation of Godiva Gems, I would divide the consume r market into 2 big segments there are the chocolate lovers and the non-chocolate lovers. Assuming there more chocolate lovers than the non-chocolate lovers, thereof further division of the segment is needed to bring the large segment into smaller segments. Marketing Strategies Targeting and PositioningAfter division and evaluation of the market segments, the adjacent step targeting is very important. This is because a company only has limited amount of resources therefore has to decide which and how many segments to venture into. Each smaller segment is different and Godiva Chocolate Company needs to work on these differences to best position itself in the consumers market. Positioning simply means to find a bide in the heart and mind of every targeted consumer. It is also express as differentiating the competitive advantages in the smaller segments, by choosing the right advantage that would benefit the company which to build a position in the consumers market. For instance, t he teenagers- students segment and the Children segment each has their own unique differences between them. Therefore the smaller segments that Godiva Gems would be targeting are the young working adult couples and the large families with children. Teenagers Students SegmentGodiva Gems chose to target on teenagers especially the students between the ages of 13 to 16 holding an monthly allowance of $ccc to $800, because this group of teenagers generally are outgoing and fun, they gather with friends and get involve with many activities, even though they have minimumpurchasing power, they would consider buying luxury chocolate to eat because of peer influence and brand conscious. For instance, when a secondary trail student walks into the school eating luxury chocolate, other peers may get envious or jealous and would start to look for one as well. Therefore Godiva Gems could cater to the needs and wants of this group of teenagers because the chocolates would be pack in man-to-man wraps, which can be carried around easily and share around with friends. Young Children SegmentNext, Godiva Gems could also target on the children at the age of 4 to 6 with parent holding an annual income of $24000 to $36000. Children in general love candies chocolate would be one of their favorites. Parent would buy chocolates for their children just to make their children happy. Furthermore, children at the age of 4 to 6 share very close bond to their parent. This is where the Godiva Gems could play a part in creating the family bonding and bring joy and triumph to families by simply eating chocolates together. As Godiva Gems comes in individual wraps, bringing it out on family activities is the best choice. Next I would move on to some other strategy known as the Marketing Mix.Marketing MixMarketing Mix are sets of controllable, tactical marketing tools that a firm uses to create the manakin of response which they want from their targeted market and it consists of four differe nt strategies and they are the product strategies, the price strategies, the promotion strategies and lastly the promotion strategies Product StrategiesIn the market, people in general favor products that are highly available and affordable. In order to achieve the results that Godiva Gems wanted, the comparison made through observation of other chocolate product purchase by consumers would tell the company where Godiva Chocolate stands in addition it also reveals the competitive advantages of Godiva Gems. Product strategies work in many ways. For instance, surveys could be given(p) out to the targeted audiences in order to capture their preferences towards chocolate. This way, the firm could analysis the external environment and know what the consumers like best. For example, Children in the age group of 4 to 6 would like their chocolate in different patterns and colors while the students in the age of 13 to 16 might focus more on the taste and brand of the chocolate. Therefore Go diva Gems could work towards the preferences of the targeted market. The preferences of the targeted audience create the value add to Godiva Gems. Godiva Gems would come out with many patterns and colors coated chocolates to suit the children market and different types of chocolate tastes to cater to the students. In addition, a crew of dedicated sales personnel would be value added aspect to marketing a product. This is because people in general buy the goods along with the services therefore people do concern over the manner which they were being treated and serve. The same should apply to Godiva Gems. In a nut shell, Godiva Gems have to achieve the needs of the targeted market, at the same time the service standards, which the chocolate is exchange, moldiness also be excellent. Godiva Gems should portray the motion-picture show of luxury chocolate at an affordable price.Place StrategiesPlace strategies are about finding the right place to distribute your product. Hence, Singapor e is a very small market compared to almost all countries in the world and almost all luxury chocolates could only be found in the places like obtain c write downs, museums and the National airport of Singapore. No doubt, many people go to places like the orchard road on weekends but the shopping centers are mostly make full with young adults. My target audiences are students and Children, Student at the age of 13 to 16 would most likely spend their time in the tuition centers and having school curriculum activities, they may not have the time to go out shopping. Furthermore, Children with the age of 4 to 6 are mostly likely to spend their weekends with the grandparents, vie at the playground while the parents go out to do their shopping. To reach out to these groups of people, Godiva Gems has come out with the strategy by walking into the neighbourhood. Godiva Gems aim to set up high-end chocolate shops in the estates to treat affordable luxury chocolate because the targeted aud ience can now get them around the corner. Godiva Gems could open the first high-end chocolate shop at one of the old estates, like Bedok. These estates have the most housing flats and neighbourhood schools. Price StrategiesSince the targeted audiences are in the neighbourhood, the pricing of the chocolate must be affordable and not pricey. Firstly, I would use the Market penetration pricing strategy on Godiva Gems. Firstly, Godiva Gems is using a new product to enter into a new market it needs to attract a large number of buyers as quickly as possible. Secondly, Godiva Gems selling at low prices could save up the competition, of other brands of chocolate, out of the market. Therefore, the company could price Godiva Gems that caters to children at the age of 4 to 6 in two different style they can be sold at $30 per pack with 20 pieces of random individual wraps or children can choose among the chocolates from the lower shelving, on these lower shelving are each individual wrap chocol ate with different design and color at the cost at $1.50. In this manner Godiva Gems are made affordable to parents, of young children, in the neighbourhood. In comparison, Godiva Gems that cater to students would be pack differently from the children pack and could be found at the higher shelving in the shop. The chocolates for the students come in boxes with 20 sticks of individual wrap chocolate at $40. In this way, Godiva Gems is made affordable to the students. Promotion StrategiesPromotion Strategies are tool in helping the firm to get the inwardness content across to attract the target audience to purchase the product. As my target audiences are the students and the parents of young children, I think the most suitable would be the rational approach. This is because, the rational approach relates to the audiences self-interest. The best way to attract the students and Children to get to know Godiva Gems is by giving out Samples. On this hand, the opening of a high-end chocola te shop located in the neighbourhood would definitely attract curiosity from the public. At this moment, the sales personnel would welcome the people outside of the shop to model Godiva Gems. Godiva Gems would succeed when people purchase after they sample because it will mean the consumers like the taste of the chocolate. On the other hand, promotion strategy also whole kit and boodle another way. For instance Godiva Gems could do opening ceremony sale promotion to attract consumers to buy the products. The products can be package in bundle and sell at different price.ReferencesKaplan Study Guide for Marketing ManagementExtra ReadingsDon Sexton. and Donald Trump (2006) Trump University Marketing 101 how to use the most coercive ideas in marketing to get more customers. Teen Pregnancy: its Prevalence and Alternatives

Zarrilli mentioned that Although scholars disagree on a definition, we may define fashionable playing area as degree entertainment that appeals to cross class audiences in complex societies through commercial means. (Zarrilli et al, Theatre Histories, 2006, pg 311) In this context it could be stated that a theatre is a stage where the actor and actress achieve their characters according to the director script is written. But the acting on the stage and especially in front of the audience is to a greater extent difficult rather than performing on the back stage. There is whole lot of difference between a normal theatre and a fashionable theatre because rather than the culture mimic and mirror it also shows disagreement for the spectators with not a single question to answer still actually move ons a reflexion to the audience to find the answer. Popular theatre is nothing like that, what we see on television or theatre, where the actor and actress are performing a masterpiece, but here it is only to perform and realise the situation of the script and play a stage role in a very simple panache so that all(prenominal)one can understand. However, in this context it would be relevant to mention that melodrama, folks drama, festivals, calendar celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, the reap festival and Halloween, carnivals, clowns, reality TV as examples of popular theatre. Discussion While placing a role in front of a viewer popular theatre should tell a composition and also bring a concern to the community around the distinguish. The content should be a potential one and it should be a theatre as a rehearsal of liveliness so that the visitors can overcome the fears of mind and can build a self reliance among them selves. The act should be intense, so that the audience gets encourage and they should have the ideas without any hesitation in mind. gum olibanum from this view point events like melodrama, folk drama, festivals, calendar celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, the harvest festival and Halloween, carnivals, clowns, reality TV well blends into the parameter of popular theatre. Now, for the presentation it requires some time and with the chosen form of communication it can be through with(p) very quickly and easily.Sometimes the local people carry out the expenses making the production cost low. Another important part of popular theatre is to head a very few people who have a very good understanding among themselves so that they can appoint their own decisions and participate to do the call on. (Berkowitz, 189) An illustration of a case study would help in this context. Take for example Kissa Kursi Ka (Trans Tale of Throne), Directed by former parliamentarian Amrit Nahata, that originated as a folk drama, was a controversial Indian play. The plot revolved around a corrupt and evil politician, Utpal Dutt, trying to woo personified public, Shabana Azmi. It burbleed about evil politicians running by and by the ministe rial throne to do anything and everything to get the so called ministry chair and ultimately shows that all politicians are of same character, leaving a question mark on the viewers about the characters of the politicians governing the country. This is what folk drama does. It reveals the public sentiment on different issues. In this case it was political satire.(Dos, 177) Now comes the performance part. It is entirely an art, where the artist has to interact with spectators indirectly. Before they come in front of them they need ample practice to perform on stage with exemplary presence of mind. To make it complete, the artist should have appropriate make up, speech, to convey the message with proper skills of non verbal communication. Sometimes the interaction with audience can be direct, it becomes a testing time for the artists presence of mind, as different audience can behave indifferently. So folk artists of a folk drama have to operate on according to it. In a normal theat re the artist perform their role very professionally because it is their bread and butter for them, so they have to perform quiet confidently so that the next order or roll does not furlough away from them. Therefore they have to work very in truth on that performance act. But in the popular theatre such as folk drama the artist plays a role without any emphasis on the platform and they do well than the professional people. This only happens because they think that they are working for the society or for the community to grow awareness among the people, so that they do not suffer afterwards in the later part of the life. Here we can see that the normal theatre artist perform their duties for their occupation, whereas the popular theatre artist does their work for the betterment of the society. For example, in India our government has taken an initiative to do away with stigma around AIDS. While launching this attribute of welfare needs, the government has taken two steps to conve y the message to the people of India. One is by providing awareness to the citizen by the help of television. (Border, 227-228) This type of small advertizement programs are covered by popular artist, so that the admirers of the artist gets more attracted to the message of the advertisement, which had been conveyed to them and they should follow that message from that particular day and also discuss the issue with others. With that particular topic, the government also launches small programs, like street skits, with the local people who stay in the villages and perform the role, where the awareness of the advertisement had not reach. Here popular theatre plays its part. It takes more time and hassle for the performers to do the work, but it will be sure that the message will be reach to each and every family, which is much more effective than the regular theatre. These types of popular theatre are conducted by the artist according to the village tradition, culture and language which can give a more positive effect on the minds of the audience. Artist faces many problems out here. Cost is a main factor, where most of the money comes from the government, where the rest had to be collected from the welfare trustees, who donate for the betterment of the people. For every rehearsal the artists had some expenses for make ups, dress, food, lodging, this small cost looks more visible when the artist is performing for quit along time. As the funds are very limited it also crates a negative impact while performing a role. For that the insiders and the outsiders have to talk freely and openly with the particular problem and with the help of the experiences they have to solve it. Most of the people start with his own experience and later notice or study the experience of other artist. (Deb, 323)The analysis part is done between actors, facilitators, animators and even between the insiders and the outsiders. In this type of analysis the issue information is examined in thre e contexts, that is economical social or political. This issue should immediately bring to light and the problem had to solve instantly so that the performance gets better. In a popular theatre, one most important point have to be notice that is to convert the major issues into entertainment and that particular entertainment can be in the form of series of work shops, or a play. This type of particular structured entertainment or activities can be done by asking people to take on the role of a group or community unfamiliar to them and then have the feeling and reflect the experience. Thus it is certain that popular theatre like melodrama, folk drama, festivals, calendar celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, the harvest festival and Halloween, carnivals, clowns, reality TV work highly in the context of mass entertainment. (Dev, 78-81) Conclusion When the artist take on very unfamiliar roles they are forced to learn and find new feelings and experience followed by creative thoughts.E motions of new thought can be done by incorporating the ideas into the theme. Here practice takes place and the next important stage rehearsal for life, which also provides an opportunity of a new perception. The contributor or audience are said to analyze or resolution of a problem or leave the stage with a provoking question in the mind of the audience so that they can separately analyse and assess the culture and work according to the political scenario. By resolving this type of contradiction the drama reach a new phase and it turns to a new disagreement and so the process becomes continuous.(Dos, 441-442) Bibliography Zarrilli, Phillip B. Alfred M. Green Speech Analysis Essay

The Civil War, a war fought during the 1860s, decided a great more things slavery or freedom, s emergeh and north or unification. In the beginning of the war, the Northern African Americans were non allowed to join the Union Army and fight against the southerly oppressors. Alfred M. potassium, while giving a speech in Philadelphia at the beginning of the war, urged African American to prepare to enlist. He also spoke subversively about the injury of the treatment of African Americans non only in the South but also in the North. common land uses a variety of methods to persuade his fellow African-Americans to prepare for war while also speaking out against the treatment of the African-Am. in the North. kB begins his speech by immediately mentioning the cornerstone of the American ideology, that American citizens call back in freedom, and of civil and religious toleration. By remind the African Americans what America is founded on, he incites in them the hope to go to war again st anyone opposing the idea. greenness, by the same token, reminds the whites of their unfairness in denying the African Americans their rights. The mention of the interminable Washington and Jackson also appeals to the patriotism in the African Americans, moving them closer to desiring to fight in the war.The appeal Green betrays to the religious beliefs of the African Americans is apparent throughout his speech. Because most of the African Americans at the m were Christian, by referring to their God as the God of truth, Justice and equality to all men makes the AFri. Am. feel compel to help the cause of the Civil War. Because their God believed in freedom, why and how can they deny anyone else that right? At the same time Green also reminds the whites that their same God is the white God and that the African Americans be rights as well. Green also wants the African Americans to be trusting in God because their God wants them to go to war and will protect them. Why should the A frican Americans not go to war under such protection?By the end of his speech, Green begins to remind the African Americans of their oppressed brethren in the South. He reminds them of pot under a tyrant system and requests their assistance in overthrowing it. He alsomentions the desire of the Southern leaders to drive backcivil and religious freedom and have more slave territory. By mentioning the goals of the other side, he motivates the African Americans to battle by showing them the future of the nation if the South wins because they did not fight. Green notes that their very presence on the battlefield will urge the slaves in the South to revolt.Greens word choice throughout his speech helps him to motivate the African Americans to battle without their realizing it. He always uses the phrase let us to persuade the African Americans to join the army without directly telling them to do so. A direct order is much less likely to be followed than a softer direction such as let u s. He also includes himself in the group by using the word us, qualification him seem motivated and desirous of joining the army as well. If he desires to join, why should they not? Green also anticipates certain rebuttals to his argument, but he silences them by beginning his arguments with it is true. He wants the African American deal to know that he too realizes the problems with the government but his is still willing to go to war.Although Green does make certain condescending arguments towards the white audience by the end of the speech he has united twain American Americans and whites by focusing them against a common enemy the South. He does want change, but he knows that defeating the Southern slavery system is much more pressing and important in the long run. Green is careful to hope of the future but still improve the present, and he hopes not only the African Americans but also the whites will do the same.

He did a lot for our country and doesnt deserve all the mistrust that people feel towards him. History seems only to remember the faults of people, but in the very end, he was actually a really good presidentRichard Nixo nOn August 8th 1974 Richard Nixon became the first American president ever to resign from office. His final action was the imminent consequence of more than two years of governmental controversy, of public displays of discontented towards the media, and ultimately of obvious attempts to minimize and cover up a scandal that, in the end, proved to be fatal for the outcome of his presidential mandate. He would later recall, This was the nightmarish end of a long hallucination (Associated Press, 1999). His last address to the nation as a standing president must be seen through and through this perspective and through the lens of the historical circumstances of the time. The overall perception of the exact purpose of the idiom is still debatable, some of his critics accusing him of not giving a surrender speech, but rather a persuasive one. Despite these differences in ideas, one can reach a common ground and the destinationinus that Nixon, while making his final official speech, al so tried to save a dignifying picture for posterity, later on implicitly underlining the importance the judgment of history had for him The jury has already come in, and theres postal code thats going to change it. Theres no appeal. Historians will judge it harshly.(Stacks, 1994).In coif to fully grasp the complex pass on behind the speech delivered by Nixon, certain elements are essential for building a proper prototype of the historical background of the time. Cristina Schaffner, in citing Christoph Sauer, points out the necessity for analyzing the immenser context of use of the policy-making dis communication channel in order to understand and capture its overall meaning. She considers that the analysis of political speeches in particular and political discourses in usual should relate linguistic structures to larger contexts of communicatory settings and political functions. Any public speech is part of a larger, more extensive communicative process and it is characterize d as a strategic move in an overarching communicative plan. It can therefore be assessed properly only if the larger context is taken into account( Schaffner, 1993, 203).Richard Nixon was the thirty-s as yetth elected president of the US and had the uphill endeavor of leading his nation through some of the or so trying times of its history. Henry Kissinger, his Secretary of State would later on acknowledge the fact that Nixon was the first president, after Theodore Roosevelt, to lead his countrys foreign polity largely in the name of the national interest(Kissinger, 1995, 636). He admits, as do numerous some other experts in external policy, that the Nixon Administration was given(p) the task of withdrawing the American troops from its first experience of a lost war, and from the first external trueness in which the American moral convictions collided with what was possible to achieve(Kissinger,1995, 586).Therefore, the Vietnam War was the major issue of Nixons presidency. ot her critical issue was that of the US-USSR relations that were in a tight point at the beginning of his term in office in 1969. Intimately connected was the situation with China which proved to be baneful and in demand of a diplomatic resolution. Stacks points out these elements By sheer endurance, he was the most(prenominal) important figure of the postwar era.Nixon assemble the country through some of its worst times, leading the red-scare government of the 1950s, escalating the war in Vietnam in order to end it, trying with all his enormous energy and imposture to defeat the legal processes that closed in on him during the Watergate scandal(Stacks, 1994). Thus, it not the conduct of the foreign policy that brought his resignation, but rather his continuous conflicts with the Congress, that is the dispute between the Executive and the Legislative. All these aspects of the political reality are dealt with, some more than others, in his final speech.Depending on his motivation , Nixon targeted more than one audience in his speech. metalworker argues that understanding the American audience in terms of the issues it holds dear, the positions it takes on those issues and the way it measures character is crucial to crafting speeches that run into with the public. Furthermore, due to the modern media, the president often addresses more than one audience at a time (Smith, 2006).It was expected of him to start with the most pressing development of internal politics, which was the Watergate scandal. His political career had been stained by the possibility of being accused of obstructing justice procedures and abuse of agent, yet his considerations on the matter were rather averse(p) and until the final end, set for denial of all evidence sh profess to him in this respect (Impeachment, 2006). It was only after the convinced(p) proof of taped conversations demonstrating his implication in the scandal that he tacitly admitted his guilt and acted on his resignat ion (Legacy Richard M. Nixon, 37th president, 2006).Stacks even comments on the idea, calling the attention to the fact that no other President in American history had been revealed to be so cynically, so selfishly breaking the law to preserve his own power. Other Presidents may have acted as ignobly, but none was caught so nakedly (Stacks, 1994). Nixons mentioning of the scandal in the speech was quite lapidary, the term Watergate only being used twice throughout the text. It is therefore clear to say that he attempted to underplay its importance and to change the focus of the attention towards other aspects of his political actions.Within this line of argumentation, Nixon tried to appeal to the general public. He made use of personal references, by mentioning that my family unanimously urged me to do so (to carry through to the finish whatever the personal agony it would have involved)( Scholing, 2003) structuring his address on the need to reach out to the American people and thu s offer them a certain justification of his actions, which he even stresses were carried out as to do what was best for the nation. Therefore, one of the aims of the speech was to attract the sense of public acceptance and along with this, a closure of the chapter.Throughout his speech though, he created for himself a number of different occasions to address the general public, the electorate and subsequently those who decide in a democratic system. One such occasion was the referral to the possibilities of the American people to have not only the blessings of intimacy but also the means to live full and good, and by the worlds standards even abundant lives( Scholing, 2003). Such political rhetoric could only have pointed to the important achievements his administration had registered, although he did mention the inflation problems facing the society.Even so, he managed to draw the attention on the wellbeing of the nation by similar comparisons with the rest of the world. In justif ying the wide media and public attention that the Watergate scandal had received, and, at the same time, in concording Nixons confidence in the internal and external US position, Walter McDougall, a historian at the University of Pennsylvania, said that the American people could concede to obsess continuously over this affair and paralyze the nationthe American people wouldnt have put up with that if they had thought the country was in danger(Anderson, 2004).Nixon pointed out the successes of his administration in relation to the main(prenominal) international actors such as the USSR, China and the players in the Middle East. Even though, in general, the American public is less interested in foreign affairs and more in domestic issues, the Vietnam War and the broader context that determined its final outcome had provoked great unrest among regular Americans, and had created a rift in the society. Therefore, when invoking the fact that we have ended Americas longest war (Scholing, 2003) he also tried to offer a sense of reassurance that would, in the long run, help heal the wounds of the nation.A well delimited part of the speech was aimed at underlining the distinctiveness between I and congressional and other leaders. While addressing the public, he tried to polish off a clear delimitation between what the public might consider good such as himself, and evil such as those in search of his indictment. He strongly stressed the lack of Congressional support in his strive to uphold what he considered to be the constitutional purpose. There were even convictions that considered Nixon to have acknowledged his lonely isolation in his televised resignation speech (Anderson, 2004).Therefore he subtly lets himself to be portrayed as the less eager to keep open the battle with the Congress, fact that had an opposite effect on the elective body. By mentioning his lack of further action for the purpose of revenge, as he would not continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication (Scholing, 2003), he skillfully managed to sow the seed of disbelieve in the publics mind over the real reasons for the Congress actions. Furthermore, he would appear in the eyes of the public as the one that appealed to a common and acceptable solution on behalf of both parties. Therefore, it could be said that, in the public view, he managed to partially save a certain political dignity. The presentation of the new president was, from a strictly political perspective, an electoral maneuver. Its placement after the subtle attack of the Congress insured the transfer of the political support he enjoyed among his own traditional electorate. His reaffirmed trust in Fords capabilities was also meant to lie to rest any uncertainties in the future course of policy. It is rather obvious that, following that passage, the continuous and vigorous call for mobilization to take further the actions started by his administration, Nixon attempted to give an addit ional level of credibility to all that was previously said. His determination and explicit support for his successor was designed as a display of confidence and conviction in his arguments that, among others, motivated his sinlessness in the Watergate scandal.Taking into consideration the concurring factors that eventually led to the resignation of President Nixon, it can be think that his final speech addressed exactly the variety of these issues. Summing up the pulse of the era, McDougall considers that even Watergate will some day be put in a larger context and will be seen as the most dramatic episode in a rebellion by Congress and the courts against executive power (Anderson, 2004). In addressing the American people, he tried both to justify his actions and to subtly state the difference of opinion with the Congress.BibliographyAnderson, Hill. He lied under oath about knowledge of the Watergate scandal, he illegally invaded Cambodia and violated international law, and he installed wiretaps. All these actions caused him to resign from the Presidential office. What we dont think about, is all the good he did. Nixon did a lot for our country. From foreign affairs o the environment, he accomplished much during his time as president. First of all, one of his greatest accomplishments was the dtente with the Republic of China. He was the first president to visit the country, and he opened trade with China and bettered the economy by making China its biggest trade partner. He came to agreements with both China and the Soviet Union where the use of nuclear weapons would stop being used. Nixon accomplished much with our nations environment. He passed many acts hich incl uded the National Environmental Policy of 1969, The Environmental Protection Agency of 1970, The Clean Air Act Extension of 1970, Marine Mammal Protection of 1972, the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974, and the Endangered Species Act of 1973. We can thank him for making our environment a better place. Besides improving our environment, President Nixon also accomplished much under Civil Rights. It is because of Nixon that women have equal pay and employment opportunities today.Nixon also worked towards racism towards African Americans and helped stop the segregation towards them in the school systems. Even though President Nixon had a lot of faults and made a lot of mistakes, he couldVe handled things a lot better. So why look at only his faults? He did a lot for our country and doesnt deserve all the mistrust that people feel towards him. History seems only to remember the faults of people, but in the very end, he was actually a really good president

A Mutual Relationship

The issue of forming a mutual blood between achieving organization strategic postulate and the happiness of individual employee unavoidably is gaining an increasing importance in todays business world. It is believed that fetching deal out of the needs and satisfaction of the individual employees is pivotal to achieving strategic goals and objectives of any organization. If an organization does not support great deal of care about the needs and wants of the employees, it wont be able to be successful and viable for the long period of time.Though, from the short bourn perspective it may be pricy for the company to satisfy the needs of each individual employee and keep them happy, but in the long boundary such a company is bound to be more successful than the one which does not care about the needs of its staff. For instance, it must be ensured that the workplace conditions are adequate enough to provide satisfaction to the employees.Organizations that see the value of their e mployees are prepared to bare the extra cost in return for the lofty performance by the employees at all levels. Where as, on the other hand, companies who do not value their employees a great deal suffer from a high employee turnover and lower performance levels. (Callaway.L.P). However, it must be noted that not all the needs of employees can be fulfilled especially when such needs are at the cost of companys strategic aims and objectives. There must be a remainder between the fulfillment of employee needs and strategic needs of the company. This balance can be achieved by line up the strategic needs of the company with that of individual employees to create common objectives. Organizations are continuously cerebrate on aligning the individual employee needs and objectives with that of the organization. The process of aligning individual needs of employees and organizations strategic objectives is called goal congruousness. The office staff theory is mostly commonly used by orga nizations for forming goal congruence between the individuals and overall strategic goals and objectives of the company.Agency theory assumes employees of organization, including managers as agents acting within an organization each engage his own set of objectives. For instance, within a particular department of an organization, there are departmental objective. If achieving these departmental goals and objectives lead to the achievement of the overall strategic objectives of the organization, then these is believed to be goal congruence between the two. (opm.gov).The relationship between an organization and employees is referred to as agency relationship, in which managers and employees act as agents for the owners of a company. The conflict in this relationship arises when the agents do not act in the best interests of their principles. The agency problem arises due to the withdrawal of ownership and management of the business. Mostly managers purse their own personal objectives like giving themselves high salaries and perks, and taking a short term profitability perspective rather than focusing on the long term success of the business. This is particularly the case where they dont have any or very dwarfish stake in the equity shares of the company. However, this agency problem can be resolved by what is called an agency theory. Agency theory tries to bridge the gap between the objectives of organization and personal objectives and needs of employees and managers alike.

UNHAPPY RELATIONSHIPS IN HEMINGWAY'S LIFE AND FICTION Essay

uncheerful RELATIONSHIPS IN HEMINGWAYS LIFE AND FICTION - Essay ExampleHe believed in omitting extra details as a way of strengthening his stories. He compared this to an iceberg. Just like only the top 1/eighth of an iceberg can be seen above the water with the rest remaining below the surface providing it with its pulse and dignity, Hemingway believed his stories should follow the same structure. Although some critics loved him, others said his stories were shallow. He had no sympathy for women, they said, portraying them each as manhood-destroying bitches or as mere objects of sexual domination (Lynn, 1987, p. 10). A close reading of his stories reveals not only the messages the author intended to send, but also some insights as to the way he felt about things. Throughout his life, Hemingway struggled in his relationships with others, particularly women, and these struggles can be traced through many of his works including Hills corresponding White Elephants, The Short and Ha ppy Life of Francis Macomber and Snows of Kilimajaro. There are numerous similarities between the short legend Hills Like White Elephants and Hemingways life at the time he wrote it. According to Baker (1969), Hemingway wrote this fable during the 100 day separation period between himself and his mistress Pauline that his wife Hadley insisted upon before minded(p) a divorce. The story is essentially the conversation that takes place between a man and a fair sex at a small train station caf as they wait for their next train. One of the number 1 indications that perhaps things are not right with the couple is the fact that they are drinking beers in the pump of the day. While this is not necessarily an indication of trouble, the emphasis on big ones and the observation of the girl tone off at the line of hills observing that they look like white elephants (Hemingway, 1986 273) begins to suggest the general commissioning of the story about to unfold. As the man

Liberty and Equality Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Liberty and Equality - Essay archetypeAs a function of this confusion with regards to some of the core precept that help to define the company in which we live, it will be the express intent of this particular analysis to engage the reader with an taste of the immutable nature of equating and self- transferion. Through such analysis and focus upon the course in which these both are related and differentiated from one an otherwise. Yet, the fact of the matter is that the interplay between equality and liberty is something that perennially come throughs. Ultimately, all(prenominal) and every decision that is made with regards to greater levels of liberty, or the exercise thereof, has a direct and/or tangential impact with regards to the manner in which an individual can put through a degree of equality. Naturally, in a perfect world, society views equality and liberty as two goods that should be able to exist alongside one another in equal measure. However, the fact of the ma tter is that one necessarily constrains the other and causes a situation by which an increased degree of equality adversely impacts liberty and vice versa. The next analysis and discussion will more appropriately define this inverse relationship and the means by which it is exhibited within the United States both past and present (Smith 456). One analyst noted, The balancing of liberty and equality interests cannot be accomplished in the abstract. We cannot decide issues involving specific legislation by determining that we lack enough liberty or that our society has too much equality. Careful evaluation requires inquiry into the specific nature of the individual exemption that may be sacrificed and the value of the equality that will be enhanced if the proposal becomes law (New York Times 1). As such, the interplay between these two seemingly competitive virtues is clearly manifest. Firstly, before delving into an active definition and understanding of all liberty or equality, i t must be appreciated that neither of these terms are in direct competition with one another for a position of being the most important guiding pattern of democracy rather, these concepts are both cornerstones through which democracy is defined, upheld, and delineated. If one of these two terms had to be tacit as of greater importance than its counterpart, then the entire framework upon which representative government is fabricated would topple. Ultimately, at its very core, liberty necessarily defines the state of being free. As such, this freedom has been exhibited within almost each and every aspect of the way in which the American experience of government has come to be known. Although the freedom of liberty is a defining hallmark of the way in which he United States has come to experience its own development and growth as a political and social concept, the fact of the matter is that the essential application of liberty itself is not static. Just like with the way in which eq uality has come to be re-defined and re-understood throughout different periods of the nations history, liberty and the freedoms that it entails has been defined, constrained, and redefined as different experiences have shaped the way in which this concept is reflected within the American populace. A quick example of this can of course be seen with regards to the way in which liberty came to be constricted after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Whereas the nation itself was in a
